Homeschooling can be a bit sketchy

We had tickets to a jazz concert, and on a sunny day last week, we hopped on the bus heading to Harlem.

During the show, my son whispered to me, "Did you bring paper and pencil?"

He drew the bassist in the band and said, "I like this guy the best. He looks like he's having fun." I agreed.

A couple of days later, we took the bus to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and spent a rainy afternoon in the Ancient Near East section.

In the room from the palace of Ashurnasirpal II, my kids each selected a bas relief for a quick sketch.

Then we huddled together under a broken umbrella at the bus stop, hoping the sketches kept dry inside my purse.

  1. I'm so happy you found my blog! I take it you live near or around NYC?! I have not been there since I was about 12 or 13. My grandparents use to live in NJ, so we use to go to the city often.

Someday we would love to bring out children there. We have a friend who is a detective there for NYPD. Perhaps someday.

I look forward to reading more on your blog.

  2. How neat your sketches. Your city life is so fascinating, as Nancy says, how different yet with a kindred spirit!

  4. Just what I'd want to do on a rainy day : D and oh, would the girls have enjoyed the jazz concert! I love NY, after our visit to the MET two years ago, my oldest dd and I had tea at Alice's Tea Cup. Wondeful memories.

Silvia: It's fun to how we all use CM ideas in our unique circumstances, I agree!

Sheri: Thanks for the compliment. I'd like to develop some photography skills (get it...develop, photography, lol).

Grace: I have never been to Alice's Tea Cup! It's been on my list of things to do with my daughter and her friends for years!
